TAMAYOMI: The Baseball Girls is a sports anime series created by studio A-CAT, directed by Toshinori Fukushima, and written by Touko Machida. The story follows Yomi Takeda and Tamaki Yamazaki as they try to start a baseball club at their high school, Shin Koshigaya High School, which doesn't have one.
Yomi was a talented pitcher in her Junior High days but gave up on the sport after not being able to use her "Magic Throw" in a crucial game. Tamaki is a former catcher who can catch Yomi's pitch and is more than willing to help her form a team.
However, they soon find out that starting a club is not easy, especially without the support of the school's administration. Yomi and Tamaki must convince their classmates to join them and work hard to prove their worth as a team. Along the way, they also face challenges from other schools and learn valuable lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and friendship.
The anime features themes of girl power and breaking gender stereotypes as the girls strive to become a competitive baseball team in a male-dominated sport. It also explores the bond between childhood friends and the importance of following your dreams.
TAMAYOMI: The Baseball Girls aired in Japan from April to June 2020 and consists of 12 episodes. The anime was well-received for its character development, animation, and uplifting story.
